Lamar University
Environmental Learning Center Facilities Master Plan

This project prepared a master plan for an educational off campus facility in which students, faculty, and visitors would be immersed in a natural environmental setting of Southeast Texas. This is to be developed on over 1200 acres of land adjacent to the Neches River and comprised of a majority of bald cypress swamp. Specific issues of access, public safety, and environmental protection were addressed in the scope of services.

Leap Engineering undertook an environmental inventory, site assessments, site visits, interviews with knowledgeable persons involved, and extensive database searches including review of historical aerial photographs in order to prepare a master plan for an environmental learning and research facility development. Alternative development, building facilities functional diagrams, architectural plan drawings, cross-sections, and thumbnail sketches were provided for this project.
