Laguna Harbor Estates Description:
This project involved an approximately 70 acre site along the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway on the Bolivar Peninsula, Texas to construct a single family residential boat canal community with easy access to deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The project impacted approximately 30 acres of wet coastal prairie and tidal fringe marsh yet was able to offset these impacts through on-site marsh creation and preservation of over 368 acres of tidal fringe marsh and coastal wet prairie.
LEAP Engineering supervised the on site mitigation planting and provided monitoring and reporting of specified performance criteria. Of note, this project provided bare ground nesting and resting habitat for over 200 nesting pairs of Black Skimmers and Tern species.
