Christus Hospital - St. Elizabeth Campus
Pedestrian and Parking Improvements

This project presented a unique challenge for our client. The work consisted of coordinating and planning the demolition of an existing parking garage, construction of new handicap accessible parking, and accessible pedestrian routes to the main entrance.

The hospital campus suffered from vehicular congestion and dangerous pedestrian/vehicular conflicts along the front entrance and existing patient discharge area. We have worked with the hospital and their contractors to conceive a solution that includes a new parking area in the front lawn, an extended front entrance canopy, and new pedestrian ramp and star assemblies. The solution creates distinct space for pedestrians that is protected from vehicles, and opens up multiple access points to the existing hospital entrance to alleviate the pressure on the current paths.

Safety, functionality, and aesthetics were successfully combined in this project between our civil and design departments.
