Georganna Collins Delivers Presentation on
Minimizing Hurricane Damage at National
Environmental Conference

Georganna Collins, Registered Landscape Architect at LEAP Engineering, delivered a presentation at the 3rd National Conference on Coastal and Estuarine Habitat Restoration in New Orleans, Louisiana, December 9-13. Ms. Collins’ presentation focused on the need for healthy coastal marshes in Galveston Bay and highlighted the important role they provide by offering protection from storm surge and wind damage from major hurricanes. Ms. Collins’ has 27 years of experience in natural resource inventories, environmental assessments, wetland creation, bioengineering, habitat restoration and low-impact land use planning.
Ms. Collins received a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering and Landscape Architecture, and later a Masters of Science degree in Landscape Architecture at Texas A&M University. She is also a Certified Wetland Delineator.
The Conference, according to their official website, www.estuaries.org, brings national attention to the challenges and opportunities of coastal ecosystem restoration. Approximately 1,500 participants were in attendance from several countries.
